Once you've narrowed down a potential harness size based on these, check the neck opening size of that harness. Divide this measurement by two and take a piece of tape that length in your hands. The tape should be flexible; do not use a metal tape measure. Pro tip: If you don't have fabric tape, you can use a pre-measured shoelace or a charger cable.

Try measuring a piece of tape from the very top edge of the dog's sternum tip to the neck in front of the shoulder blades. The tape should be tight and straight, running completely in front of the dog's shoulders – just like the neck opening of the pulling harness should stay in proper tension when pulled. Is this measurement just barely enough? Good, then the neck opening of that size is likely very close to a proper fit.

Please get in touch if you need help choosing the size.

Size

Harness
neck opening

Dog's weight (indicative)

Breed, e.g.

XS

41 cm

14-17 kg

border collie female

S

45 cm

17-20 kg

Border Collie Male, Aussie

M

47 cm

20-22 kg

Husky Female, Aussie, Samoyed Female

M/L

48 cm

22-25 kg

Labrador Retriever, Malinois Female, Husky

L

50 cm

25-28 kg

Large Husky, Golden Retriever, Samoyed Male, Malamute Female, Malinois

L/XL

52 cm

28-31 kg

German Shorthaired Pointer, Malinois, Malamute

XL

55 cm

31-34 kg

German Shepherd Dog, Malamute

XXL

58 cm

34-38 kg

German Shepherd, Malamute

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0549/8257/4286/files/inlandsis-polar-quest-harness-traildog.jpg?v=1698585028
